It's been almost one month since I finally finished my sophomore year of high school, and with that, I've ditched the study groups for brunch dates, the textbooks for movies, and my uniform for more comfortable summer prints. I've also been able to trade in my worn-out Jansport for a new everyday backpack!
Today's post is a little look into what I bring along with me on my day to day adventures, be it a quick trip to Orchard Road or lunch at Haji Lane - hope you enjoy :)
THE BAG: A black leather backpack from Editor's Market
+ The Essentials - Phone, wallet (hopefully with cash!!), and for an SG-dweller such as myself, an MRT card (and, of course, my handy Starbucks card). I got my phone case from Tangs, and I use the black pouch from H&M as a card case for days when I don't want to bring my entire wallet.
+ Glasses - My less than 20/20 vision means I've actually got to wear these all the time, but I thought I'd include it in the photo anyways. I recently got a new pair of specs from Owndays, and I went for a simple wide faux tortoiseshell frame.
+ Pencils and Pens - I chuck a few of these in my bag in case I want to do some sketching or writing. They come in handy for when I think up some ideas for future blogposts or paintings, or in case I need to jot down a quick reminder.
+ Magazines - Magazines are a great read while waiting for lunch to arrive or while eating a snack, so I try and bring a couple along with me. Some of my favorites are Kinfolk, Cereal, Frankie and Real Living.
+ A Good Book - Continuing the book-y trend, some of the summer work I have to do for AP Language requires reading some non-fiction, so my current read is The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. I haven't read much yet, but I would recommend it!
+ Accessories - I'm sure we can all agree we've had those busy mornings where we've left the house forgetting something - a hat, watch or necklace. Recently, I've been trying to remember to pack these the night before and put them on while I'm riding the taxi. During the hotter months I tend to lean towards more minimal jewellery; my current favorites are the new Swarovski necklace/ring from my friend Clara, and the Hamilton watch I borrow from my mom.
+ For the Face - Living in sunny Singapore has it's benefits, but being right above the equator means SPF is essential. I use a moisturizer with SPF right before I leave the house, but I try and bring this lightweight sunscreen from Neutrogena as well. And although there is only one lip balm in the photo, I must admit - being the lip product addict I am, I normally bring 3 or 4 different colors.
I'll be bringing this little backpack with me on more adventures around my island city, and I'll be sure to blog along the way. Thank you for reading!
